Hey there! Summer has always been my favorite season, mostly because I’m a total beach lover. I really enjoy being able to do so many outdoor activities in the warm sunshine.

Here are 5 ways to celebrate Summer with your Pre-K students:

1. Head to the beach / park – Students will have so much fun exploring at the beach! They love digging in the sand, building sand castles, and jumping waves. Also, they won’t forget to chase those seagulls! If you don’t live close to a beach, students will love going to a park as well. You can bring a blanket and picnic basket and enjoy lunch in a different setting. Students will enjoy taking in the beautiful nature and all it has to offer. If your park has a playground, that’s even better. Students will work on their gross motor skills while going down the slide or swinging on the swings.

2. Visit the Zoo – Children will be amazed at all the wildlife at the zoo. They will love learning about each and every animal. Students can practice telling you about the animals different colors, size, and shape. My favorite animals are zebras. I’m always amazed at how cool their black and white stripes are. I learned the other day that every zebra has different stripes, but the baby zebras memorize the mama zebras stripe pattern, so they can always find mom. Isn’t that amazing?

3. Set up a Lemonade Stand – Students can sell or pretend to sell lemonade to their neighbors. Children will help make the lemonade and practice their counting skills when neighbors pay them. Lemonade is so refreshing, especially in the summer. Students love to help, so don’t be afraid to give them little tasks along the way!

4. Go Swimming – Children will have a blast swimming at your pool or local swim club! They can race each other and play other fun games. If you don’t have a pool near you, inflatable pools or slip n’ slides are always good options and are just as fun. My brother and I used to love sprinklers. We didn’t have a pool growing up, so sprinklers were the next best thing! It was called crazy daisy sprinkler, so awesome!

5. Sidewalk Chalk / Bubbles – Students always get excited about using sidewalk chalk and blowing bubbles! They can practice writing their name or drawing their favorite thing with chalk. Students can practice taking turns with both the chalk and bubbles. They will enjoy telling you what they drew or made!

Hope you have an amazing rest of the week! 🙂
