Yummy it’s National Gummy Worm Day! I feel like most people either love or hate gummies/ gummy worms. Maybe you agree? I like sour gummy worms, but no more than 10 🙂 .Â
Here are 4 Pre-K activities you can do in your classroom to celebrate gummy worm day:
1. Make the famous “Worms in Dirt” dessert and allow students to try it. I’m sure they’ll be very excited about getting to eat worms! Please don’t forget any allergies students may have. Children can also identify the color of their worms.Â
2. Pop Worms – Students can stretch the “worms” (which are flexible tubes) to create different shapes (circle, triangle, square, rectangle). Also, they can name the different colors they see. Depending on the students level, they can also try to make different letters using the tubes. I absolutely love these tubes because they build up fine motor skills as well!
3. Wiggle Worm Game – Students will identify the number or letter that’s on the worm. Once they say the number or letter, students will wiggle or crawl like a worm. If your school allows it, this game also doubles as a sprinkler. Students I’m sure will enjoy getting cooled off in this hot summer heat!
4. Circle Time Worm – Bring a worm (fake of course) into morning circle time. Students get the opportunity to talk if they are holding the worm. I’m sure they’ll be excited to tell you what it looks and feels like.Â
Hope everyone has a terrific Thursday!Â
