I hope everyone had a nice weekend and is looking forward to the upcoming July 4th celebration. Typically my family always gets together, throws some hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill, and has a fabulous time chatting/playing games with one another. Then we rush to the beach to watch the beautiful fireworks! I wanted to share 10 fun ideas you can do with your Pre-K students to celebrate the 4th of July:

  • Make the famous American Flag Cake – Children love helping, whether it’s at school or home. They love have a job and feeling needed. This also fosters independence. Flag Cake Recipe

  • Make homemade red, white, and blue popsicles Popsicle Recipe Don’t forget the popsicle sticks!

  • 4th of July Picnic – Provide a blanket, picnic basket, and some play food for the students to have their own picnic. Here’s a link to a picnic basket + plus food, in case you’re interested in ordering: Picnic Basket Link

  • Patriotic Sidewalk Chalk – Students can practice writing their name using sidewalk chalk. Adults, you can also help the students by writing their name first. The student can then trace over the name you wrote, and practice writing on their own. Practice makes perfect 🙂

  • Beach Ball Bonanza! Students will have fun identifying the different colors on the beach ball. They can also count the number of stars. Here’s the link to the Patriotic beach balls. This will also help students motor skills as they throw the beach ball.  Beach Ball Link

  • Frisbee Fun! I love frisbees and anything that gets students up and moving. Depending how advanced your students are, you could write a sight word on the frisbee using a whiteboard marker. The student then reads the word before throwing the frisbee. You could write a word, letter, or number for the student read. If you don’t like the marker idea, you could also type the word out and tape it on the frisbee as well. Finally, they can also identify the correct color of the frisbee. Frisbee Link

  • Star Jumps! Make an awesome line up of stars. Feel free to write numbers, letters, or sight words on them. When the student jumps on the star, they must name whatever is on the star. Star Link

  • Oh My Stars Sensory Table! If you have a sensory table, or any empty bins, fill them with some some Patriotic stickers. Depending on your students current level, add some magnetic letters or numbers in the bins. The students go on a mission to find and identify the letters numbers, or colors. When you’re done with the letter or number hunt, students can then put the stickers on their shirt, or make a craft with them. Here are the stickers I bought: Star Stickers Link
