Hey there! National Mac and Cheese Day in Pre-K is coming up on July 14! Is mac and cheese one of your all time favorite foods? The pasta and gooey melted cheese combination is one that I absolutely love and can never be replaced.  Homemade mac and cheese is super yummy. What are some of your favorite types of macaroni and cheese? Do you prefer homemade or Kraft?

Here are 5 National Mac and Cheese Day in Pre-K ideas:

1. Macaroni Sort – Teachers/Parents can dye macaroni different colors. Students can practice sorting the noodles by color. Ask students to then count the number of noodles.

2. Mac and Cheese Please, Please, Please Read Aloud – Students will love this story about two sweet girls who love mac and cheese. They’ll enjoy learning and discussing mac and cheese!  The author even includes a recipe in the back!

3. Macaroni Letters – Students can practice building letters using noodles. Teachers can use letter templates for students to build off. If the student is more advanced, they can build on their own.

4. Macaroni Necklace – Students can practice their fine motor skills by threading macaroni onto a string. They can also identify the macaroni color and count the number of noodles on their necklace. Teachers can help tie the knot on the necklace.

5. Mac and Cheese Video – Students will love following along with The Bumble Nums as they make macaroni and cheese together. They will learn about the different ingredients and how to make it. Students will also help the Bumble Nums count throughout the video.

I hope you enjoy some extra cheesy macaroni today! See you soon.
