Hey Friends! I hope everyone is having a terrific Thursday and looking forward to the upcoming long weekend. Today is National Postal Workers Day! I’m so thankful for all of our postal workers and mail carriers. You are so integral and important to each and every community worldwide. My dog may bark at you when you come to the door, but he truly loves you as well!

Here are 8 ways to celebrate National Postal Workers Day in Pre-K:

1. Write a Thank-You Note – Students can draw a picture for their mail carrier. Adults can help children with the writing portion. Students can then trace over the words you write. I’m sure this will make the mail carriers day!

2. Take a Field Trip – Children love exploring. Take them on a tour of your local post office where they can observe everything that takes place. They’ll be able to see mailboxes, packages, envelopes, stamps, and scales. They love learning about our community helpers!

3. Read a Mail Carrier Book – Here are some of my favorites:

4. Mail Carrier/Post Office Dramatic Play! Students can have fun dressing up as mail carriers and postal workers, while they work in their pretend post office. Here are some props students could use:

5. Mail Truck Fun! – Students can pretend to deliver mail to the community using the mail truck by driving around on the play rug.

6. Mailbox Math – Students can count the number of mailboxes on their street! They can also practice identifying the numbers on the mailboxes.

7. Circle Time Mail – Students can discuss if they’ve ever seen a mail carrier before, or if they have a mailbox at their house. Students can only talk while holding the envelope or mail truck toy. Then, they can pass the envelope/mail truck to another student.

8. Mail Carrier Special Guest – Ask a mail carrier to come speak to your class. Students love learning about community helpers, and hearing how mail gets delivered. They love to ask questions!

Have a safe and fun holiday weekend! See you next week 🙂
