Hi Friends! I hope everyone is doing well. Today is National Chocolate Covered Pretzel Day! I’m a huge fan! Well, I should clarify that *white* chocolate pretzels are my absolute favorite. Anyone else? It’s the perfect mix of sweet and salty 🙂 .Â
Here are 5 ways to celebrate Chocolate Covered Pretzel Day with your students:
1. Pretzel Song-Students will enjoy singing along with the Wiggles! It gets their bodies up and moving. Teachers will love doing the pretzel dance as well!Â
2. Pretzel Read Aloud –Students will look and listen to the story Pretzel by Margret Rey. They’ll fall in love with the extra long dachshund dog. This is such a sweet story with a great message.
3. Chocolate Pretzel Snack – If students are able to eat chocolate pretzels (please check allergies first), have them try one and describe how it tastes. Is it salty? Is it sweet? Have them practice speaking in complete sentences.Â
4. Pretzel Math – If you have any more pretzels, ask students to count the pieces of salt on their pretzel. Then, ask them to write that number on their whiteboard, or hold that many fingers up in the air. Teachers, you could also draw pretzels on the board, and ask students to show you the correct number.Â
5. Pretzel Playdough – During small group/center time, students can practice making pretzels with playdough. Teachers can also ask students for the letter/sound pretzel starts with. Then, students can practice writing the letter P, and saying the “P” sound.Â
Hope y’all have a terrific Thursday! Don’t forget to treat yourself to a few pretzels 🙂 as well.Â
